I could make a whole series of these. Drying and storage space is getting scarce though. I love my studio but sometimes I wish is was a lot lot bigger so I could fit in a drying rack and one of those big sets of drawers.
You may or may not like this idea - we use a retractable clothes line for hanging prints with clothes pegs. It is a five or six line contraption which needs opposite walls. You fit the little box to one wall and hooks to the opposite wall. We only have the lines out when they are in use, so it takes very little room. It is similar to the Brabantia pull out indoor line on the John Lewis website, but I think ours came from Argos, and was a lot cheaper!
Hello Jane , new to your site via a friend. You could not have said it better re bigger studios, every printmakers dream.Plus having own press from time to time. Good solution via Veg Artist and see you are half way there already having one stored away!
Re 31/12/11 Ditto re wildlife docos. I can't bear to watch. Like your work so will keep up with the site.
Back again and I have just looked through earlier works and very energetic and expressive for the small pieces. You capture movement beautifully and very pleasing tonal value.
I've got a bit of old architrave with clothes pegs nailed onto it.. Works perfectly. It hangs from one of the rafters in the studio. Cost £1.25 for the pegs, bit of wood found in the garage.
Also I got a plans chest last summer off of ebay for a song.. Just keep looking they turn up very cheap sometimes..
Thanks for the idea Julie! I've been having a look where it might work but the only wall space I have is quite near the sink and I'm scared of splashing things. And my roof is too low to hang anything across the room. Maybe I can set it up in the house... the landing might work...
LOVE those big plan chests. If I ever have more space I'm getting one :)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the idea! I actually have one of those retractable lines already that we haven't used in ages. Will have to see if I can set something up.

ReplyDeleteHi Alison, capturing movement and energy is my number one goal, so I'm really pleased you picked that out. Thanks for visiting!
